They are set up in various points of interest in order to study the environment, as well as any Almanac activity in the area.

Bases

The Research Base is the primary habitat of the research team, with notable inhabitants including Robin Goodall and Jo Jeffreys. Those stationed there are tasked with analyzing Alien Research Site Zero, which the base was set up in close proximity to.

An unnamed Alterra Base is set up in the Lilypad Islands. The purpose of this base is currently unknown, although it may have something to do with the Sea Emperor Leviathan Juvenile living in the area.

The Exchanger Rocket installation has a small outpost nearby, which will serve as a respawn point for the player.
