Like the Alien Tablets seen today, it likely functioned to unlock doors and also as a PDA equivalent. It is found within the Primary Containment Facility. Just like the Translation Device the Rudimentary Tablet is only viewable and it is unable to be carried by the player.

Rudimentary Tablet
This device shares many similarities with the tablets used to access the alien facilities, although its structure is rather less complex. It may have served a similar purpose, granting security access and storing relevant data, and was thus kept here as a form of legacy support.
