It can be planted in the Exterior Growbed, the Interior Growbed and the Planter Pots.  When eaten, they supply the player with five pints Food and three points of Water.  In the Bioreactor, it produces a total of 325 energy over the course of 780 seconds. Due to the fact that Lantern Trees produce a lot of Lantern Fruits, the Lantern Fruit can be used as a versatile food source and a reliable source of fuel for the Bioreactor.

Trivia

• The nutritional values of the Lantern Fruit have been subject to heavy re-adjustments. They were one of the best food resources due to their high output and fast growing time. This has been changed in later updates to balance the nutritional values between all the different food resources.
• The original name for Lantern Fruits used to be Hanging Fruits.
