It was built by the Precursors around one thousand years ago and is where the last Sea Emperor will be encountered, along with the five remaining Sea Emperor eggs.

Story

The Primary Research Facility was a Precursor Base built over one thousand years ago. It's main purpose was to contain any creatures infected with the Carar that survived study in the Secondary Bio-Research Facility, and attempt to cure them. At some point the Primary Research Facility became the home and prison of the last living Sea Emperor, which the Precursors captured in an attempt to find a cure, as she was immune to infection. The aquarium section was originally all metal with several teleporter hubs set up (though none big enough to allow the Sea Emperor's escape). However, as creatures began teleportation into it, they also brought stray flora and terrain, wearing down its appearance. Over time, the aquarium became a thriving ecosystem with the Fauna and the Sea Emperor living in a symbiotic relationship. At an unknown date, the Sea Emperor laid five eggs, which the Precursors took and placed in the Precursor Egg Incubator, as the aquarium was not a suitable environment for the eggs to hatch.

Future Updates

  • The Primary Research Facility will be divided in 2 main areas, the antechamber and the aquarium.
  • The antechamber will contain an airlock and various teleporters to different biomes and the other Precursor Bases - the receivers for these teleporters will be found scattered throughout the world.
  • The aquarium will feature a moonpool and the Precursor Egg Incubator
  • Various cut-scenes and animations will be shown here, ranging from simple Sea Emperor swimming animations to a dramatic final reveal involving the Sea Emperor eggs.
  • Warpers will attempt to warp in and kill the player.
  • Most, if not all fauna and flora will be found in the Primary Research Facility, aggressive fauna will also be passive to the player while in the aquarium. Aggressive fauna will also defend the player from Warpers.
