This article contains information that is updated for the latest Experimental Version of Subnautica. Players using stable mode may find this information inaccurate.

The Precursor Thermal Power Generator is one of the four Precursor Bases. It is the smallest of the bases and will be found in the Inactive Lava Zone, within the Lava Castle. It was built around one thousand years ago.

The generator seems to be the source of power for most of the Precursor technology on the planet.

It is located in game at: -32.6, -1201.0, 96.7

Future Plans

  • Drillable Ion Crystals will be found in this base.[1]
  • It will be scannable to reveal the log below.
  • Signal for "Alien Thermal Plant".
  • An inactive Warper will be found, in the process of being repaired, along with various technology that is found inside a Warper.

Data Bank Entry

This system converts thermal energy to electric current at 90% efficiency. Some of this energy is chemically stored onsite, while unknown mechanisms appear to be transferring most of it to remote locations elsewhere on the planet:

30% Stored for emergency use
30% Ground-to-air Weapon System
22% Primary Research Facility
11% Secondary Bio-Research Facility
7% Self-Warping Quarantine Enforcer Units

The system appears to be fully automated and - given current understanding of the mechanisms involved - uninterruptible.

Facility locations have been downloaded to individual memory cards to generate HUD-mounted signals.
