Degasi Seabases

There are three Abandoned Seabases which can be discovered during exploration. These bases are in very poor condition and succumb to the nature around it.

The player can find several abandoned PDAs scattered around the bases, in which revealed the fate of the Degasi survivors. Evidence found from its abandoned PDA's indicates the bases were built by survivors of the Degasi, which crashed on Planet 4546B around a decade before the Aurora.

It is advisable that the player brought appropriate tools and equipment on hand while exploring these abandoned bases, as hostile creatures are often found inhabit the site.

Overview

The first seabase built by the Degasi crew, consisting of one main base in the center of the Floater Island with two small observatories on each of the peaks.

The Degasi crew built the central main base first, later adding the observatories to allow Bart Torgal to study the environment. Under Bart's guidance, they also constructed a small farm on the east of the island, consisting of several exterior growbeds.

As tension rose between the crew, low on resources and a bad severe weather, they're forced to leave the habitat and move on to Jelly Shroom Caves.

Interior

Main Base

Inside the Multipurpose Room, there are abandoned PDA on the desk as well as living walls. The path to its hallway is blocked by the boulder, it can only be accessible via climbing on top of the room.

Along the path, passing the spotlight and towards inside the broken T-Corridor, there's a supply crate. Proceed down the ladder and another abandoned PDA on the floor. In this hallway, there is another supply crate besides the rusty bulkhead door.

Outside, there's a several exterior growbeds, as well as Marblemelons and Chinese Potato Plant planted on it. Further south east of the main base, there's another abandoned PDA on the ground in-front of a small cave entrance.

Observatory (Base 1a)

Inside on the left, there's a supply crate and a abandoned PDA on its side. In the Observatory, there are indoor growbed.

Observatory (Base 1b)

Inside there are two Plant pot 2, in the observatory, there's a chair and a desk with a abandoned PDA on it.

	“ <poem>Captain's log, five weeks since our ship, the Degasi, was shot down. I give thanks that fate saw fit to spare my son, Bart, and I from death, but my personal entourage were not so destined. The only other survivor was Marguerit Maida, a cut-price mercenary with local expertise who I reluctantly commissioned for the journey. We spent days in the lifepods, rain beating on the roof, nothing but ocean on the horizon. Just as we were losing hope the weather cleared and we saw this island, this floating oasis. We were saved. We salvaged the Degasi wreck down to its barebones and built this habitat from the scrap. I set Bart to studying the alien plantlife and arranging us a stable source of food, put that expensive digi-training to good use. People can question digi-training and foreign technology all they like. Bart's bio-chem imprint already paid for itself. As I dictate this I'm eating hydroponically-grown potato salad garnished, with seeds that taste like spicy orange peel. Our only problem is Maida. I've caught her muttering that the island's too small to support us indefinitely. That the weather's going to turn on us. I say she's grown superstitious. Every judgement she makes assumes things go from bad to worse, that the only forward is a fight. She ought to take in some context. As a species we've spent millenia learning how to shackle nature to our will. This planet won't cause us any new problems. Overview

The second seabase built by the Degasi crew, located within the Jelly Shroom Caves.

Despite all the differences between the crew, it was a right decision from Marguerit Maida to build their habitat here in the Jelly Shroom Caves. With a maintained food and water supply as well as Lithium. During this time, Marguerit Maida found an unknown artifact while on her exploration.

They came to realized that whatever shot down the Degasi, might be doing the same for other rescue ship. Marguerit Maida was determent to investigate further but was argued by Paul Torgal.

Eventually, the seabase was experiencing heavy stress under the water pressure and was already in some disrepair by the time they left it, afterwards constructing the Deep Grand Reef base. It has since been flooded and infested by Drooping Stingers and Starfish.

Interior

A spotlight can be found near the entrance. Inside the broken corridor there's an abandoned PDA. Continue inside the Multipurpose Room, there are several chair, desk, Water Filtration Machine at the opposite side of the entrance. Two abandoned PDAs can be found on the desk and inside a locker.

Into the hallway, there's a ladder, which led to a second level which include the observatory. In which abandoned PDA lying on its floor.

Further down the hallway and into the second room, there's a bed, several living walls, a desk and a chair. Yet another two abandoned PDA can be found here on the desk and inside the locker.

Outside from the main entrance, an abandoned PDA can be found on the ground near the giant Jelly Shroom plant.

	“ <poem>We've been living in this habitat a month now. I thought it might get claustrophobic. Father feels it is. He'd tell me it was childish, but I stare out the window and sometimes I think how lucky I am to see this planet up close. Back on the island I wouldn't have believed the creatures that live down here. Marguerit has been bringing back the wildest specimens you could imagine. The fish down here, they GLOW. There's one that's 90% eyeball. Snakes the length of a whole corridor section. OK, 99% of the plantlife is toxic, I learned that the hard way, but I've managed to coax some land plants into growing indoors, and when they don't cover it... well, we eat the live specimens. It creeps me out, but it's survival. I've been attempting to document my findings. Father says we need to learn how to take advantage of the ecosystem if we're going to survive. Lately I've been watching the sea snakes that live in the purple mushrooms that grow down here. They ambush their prey as it tries to feed on the mushroom. What they don't consume settles on the seabed, which fertilizes the mushrooms, which feed the herbivores, and the chain continues. Overview

The third and final seabase built by the Degasi crew, found in the Deep Grand Reef.

Paul Torgal are not pleased with the decision to build a habitat in the Deep Grand Reef as it was too risky and in doubt with Marguerit Maida's cooperation with the crew. Till they realized that they were infected by some kind of disease. The crew started arguing among each other and unfortunately the seabase was attacked by a leviathan.

The last recorded message of Paul Torgal describe the incident and his final moment.

Interior

There are two ways to get into the Seabase - one way is via a normal Corridor on the bottom part of the base and the other is via one side of the top Multipurpose Room.

Inside the first entrance, there are many Windows and then a Multipurpose Room - which has 1 Desk and 2 Beds. Next to the Beds are Lockers, and on top of one Bed is a picture frame. On the Desk, a bunch of scattered beer bottles and an Abandoned PDA can be found.

If you go in via the other entrance, there is 1 Alien Containment Unit and 2 Observatories. Inside the first Observatory is another Desk, with another Abandoned PDA. Behind the Alien Containment Unit is a ladder, which leads down to a lab.

Inside this lab are multiple Desks and Lab Counters with lots of Lab Equipment. One of these Desks has a Precursor Key and a Microscope. Next to the Laboratory Counters and the Desks are several Shelves. There lies the last Abandoned PDA.

	“ <poem>Came out of nowhere. An alien kraken, size of a cyclops. Tore a hole clear through the reinforced hull. Barely got my breather in in time. I told her. I said others would come. I was thrown clear of the habitat, and the thing turned and bore down on me. Just as its tentacles came within grasping reach, Maida came out of nowhere. She had a seaglide in one hand, and a jagged piece of scrap metal in the other. She meant to butcher that beast, or die trying. The last I saw her she had the metal lodged in its neck and was clinging on as the monster did its best to shake her, contorting off into the darkness. I'm certain she got her wish, one way or the other. Then I thought I saw a light, deep below me. I hoped maybe Bart had swum clear. I followed it. Now I wonder whether I saw anything at all. • It is currently unknown how the Degasi crew dealt with the presence of Crabsquids around Deep Grand Reef's seabase - Crabsquid's EMPs should have knocked out the seabase's power regularly due to their photosensitive reactions.
