It can be planted in the Exterior Growbed, the Interior Growbed and the Planter Pots.  When eaten, they supply the player with 5 Food and 3 Water.  In the Bioreactor, it produces 65 energy total over the course of 780 seconds.  Due to the fact that Lantern Trees produce a lot of Lantern Fruits, the Lantern Fruit can be used as a versatile food source and a reliable source of fuel for the Bioreactor.

Trivia

• The nutritional values of the Latern Fruit have been subject to heavy re-adjustments. Initially inedible and a placeholder for Lead, they were given a new purpose as one of the best food resources - giving the highest values per piece. This has been changed in later updates to balance the nutritional values between all the different food resources.
