Famous shipwreck survivor Craig McGill survived 47 months on live tree-roaches and stankroot, prepared as a healthy, raw salad. Farming alien plants, and researching their effects, is thus a proven survival strategy.

The Exterior Growbed is an Appliance that can be constructed with the Habitat Builder. Its main purpose is to allow the player to plant underwater and terrestrial flora outside of their bases, with the express purpose of farming them.

The Exterior Growbed allows the player to utilize the farmed materials for manufacturing, fueling the Bioreactor or for decorating their base. The Exterior Growbed has twenty-four slots - which will be divided in 6 large slots, each containing 4 smaller slots total, in the future, to enable the player to better organize their farms.

Exterior Growbeds can be found on the Floater Island, and must be scanned in order to obtain it. One is found beside an Abandoned Seabase, housing a Chinese Potato Plant, Small Marblemelon, and a Marblemelon Plant. A second can be found inside an Observatory inside a different Abandoned Seabase, housing a Lantern Tree, Fern Palm, Grub Basket, Voxel Shrub, and Jaffa Cup. Six can be found away from the Abandoned Seabases, housing multiple flora.

Data Bank Entry

Advanced synthetic soils allow this growbed to support a huge variety and quantity of alien plantlife, and it can be installed anywhere on land or underwater where there is space.

Trivia

• Be mindful that, if build too close to Exterior Modules (such as the Multipurpose Room, the Hatch or any type of Corridor), any building unto that module, either interior or exterior, can erase the Exterior Growbed. This is a bug and it can easily undo several hours worth of work, if the Exterior Growbed houses rare flora.
