Template:Infobox Biome The Underwater Islands are a unique biome in Subnautica, featuring many massive rock formations suspended above the ocean floor. Here, Bonesharks dwell abundantly, along with other types of fauna and flora.

Description

Most of the Underwater Islands completely rely on the buoyancy provided by giant Floaters. Currently, there are 18 islands in the area. The size of the many "islands" vary from minuscule to massive. Two of the largest islands have a great variety of life forms, and even possess their own cavern system.

Hydrothermal vents can be found on the surface of some larger islands. Lava Geysers can also be found in huge numbers on the ocean floor, directly under the islands.

At the moment, the signal device can be used to locate the Underwater Islands. It will display the distance, and lead the player to the islands' caves.

Quartz is a common finding, and diamonds can also be occasionally found, along with basalt chunks.

The Underwater Islands border one of the Mushroom Forest, Mountains, and one of the Kelp Forest.

Wreck 4 is located in the Underwater Islands, on top of two islands.
