Template:Infobox:Fauna Flora The Spadefish is a [[::Category:Attitude: Passive|passive]] life form belonging to the fauna category found dwelling the Grassy Plateaus, Mushroom Forest, Grand Reef, Dunes, Sparse Reef, and near the Wrecks.
The Spadefish is very easy to catch, making them a reliable food source.
Appearance
The Spadefish is small in size and has a flat, irregularly-formed body. It has two small pectoral fins and one long dorsal fin that extends across its tail protuding from the back of its triangular head. Next to its side fins, two tendrils extend towards the tail, to which they connect about mid-way.
The Spadefish has a broad, yet low, mouth lined with small white teeth at the front, on top of which lies a single large eye with a black pupil that is split into two halves. A small concave black stripe goes up from the tip of its mouth.
Most of the Spadefish's body is blue in color with a few light blue dots, except for the reddish pink area around the eye and the bright red fins. Its fins and dots emit [[::Category:Bioluminescent|bioluminescent]] glows, making it easy to spot at night.
Behavior
The Spadefish swims at a moderate pace. It mostly hovers on the seabed and will occasionally flee from the player upon approached.
Uses in Crafting
Data Bank Entry
A common herbivore that seems to avoid shallower waters in favor of swimming near the seabed from where it can keep its one eye on would-be predators in the water above it. Recently observed specimens have high concentrations of a poisonous enzyme - may be a seasonal stage of their lifecycle. Continue to observe.
Assessment: Edible, substantial
